Mediation and payroll issues on Wednesday, September 25

On Wed., September 25, our union will be negotiating our contract and bring paycheck issues to the attention of the new payroll director.

First, starting at 10am, we will be in contract negotiations with the assistance of a state mediator–our first opportunity to work toward a contract in over a month, since management walked away from the table. We want as many members as possible to attend in order to demonstrate to management that we are serious about settling our contract. Our bargaining caucuses are open, and we encourage members to take part in discussions and suggest new ideas. Even coming for part of the day will make a big impact.

Second, as you may know (especially if you’re one of the hundreds who have been affected), CCSF employees have suffered paycheck problems that have mounted significantly over the last year.  Some progress on this issue has been made, including the hiring of a new head of payroll. However, we’re not going to let up the pressure until all faculty are paid in full and on time. At 3pm we will be welcoming the new head of payroll with a bouquet of flowers, candy for her staff, and a list of all payroll problems that are still outstanding.
