District forces strike vote!

The District has established a pattern in negotiations of treating faculty unfairly, chosen not to bargain in good faith, and has undermined the negotiation process. AFT 2121 Bargaining Team and Executive Board are calling on members to authorize a one day strike to protest District Unfair Labor Practices. Voting will begin Friday, November 20th and go through Monday, November 30th, with a break for Thanksgiving. We must show the District that we are united in our struggle for a fair contract and will not tolerate their unfair practices.

More details on voting locations will be available shortly. You will also be able to vote at our AFT 2121 (not-so-end) of the semester party on Friday, Nov. 20! The party starts at 3pm at Pierre Coste on Ocean Campus. Unfortunately, for the first time since AFT 2121 has held the end of the semester party, we may not be able to serve alcohol. Chancellor Lamb has gone to the length of consulting with legal counsel to determine (we believe incorrectly) that there is no legal basis for alcohol to be served at the party. If only administration would expend that kind of energy settling a fair contract for faculty!
