(Thursday 2/22) Displacement of Students in MUB
AFT 2121 demands the District cease plans to move administrative offices into the Multi-Use Building (MUB). The newest building on campus, MUB was bond funded and designed for classroom and program-specific needs. Child Development and Heath Education students depend on these spaces created to meet their learning outcomes. Displacement of students and instructional space into subpar facilities is not an option City College can afford, especially as we strive to grow enrollment. Moreover, this plan was conceived without notification or consultation with the programs affected. We call for an end to the prioritization of administrative needs over student learning.
Join us for public comment on this issue at the Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday,February 23, 2017 at 4pm in MUB 140

What: Student Debt Reduction/Forgiveness Workshop
When: Thurs., March 9, 1-2:30pm
Where: Chinatown Campus, Annex Building, Kitchen Classroom, 2nd Floor, 628 Washington Street

Nationally, AFT is working with Jobs with Justice to give Student Debt Clinics and get people the info they need to enroll in income-driven student loan repayment programs and Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Participants are encouraged to shift their perspectives and stop seeing student debt as just a personal issue, but rather a shared national crisis that will require collective action to address.
