When: Saturday, May 20 from 11:00 am-3:00 pm
Where: Golden Gate Park, Lindley Meadow, Picnic tables 10 & 11
What: Barbecue fare, beer, lemonade, kid-friendly games, awards and lots of fun to kick off the summer (rain cancels).
Bring: Lawn chairs, blankets, games, frisbees, kiddos, friendly dogs.

It’s time to fight the attacks on freedom, dignity and human rights. It’s time to RESIST. It is time to defend all people, including workers, immigrants, Muslims, Women, LGBTQ people. 3. On Earth Day: Join us at the March for Science
On Tuesday our AFT 2121 Executive Board passed a “Resolution in Support of the Science March.” We hope you will join our AFT 2121 contingent us in marching for science this Saturday. If you’re planning to come please RSVP “yes” to organizer Athena Waid, awaid@aft2121.org.
We Walk Into The Streets
Saturday, April 22 at 11 AM – 6 PM
Start: Justin Herman Plaza, 11:00AM
End: Civic Center Plaza
A rally with invited speakers will start the event at 11:00AM in Justin Herman Plaza. After the rally at approximately 12:30PM, we will march down Market street to Civic Center Plaza, ending with a Fair to celebrate science. Events at Civic Center Plaza will conclude at 6pm.
The March for Science – San Francisco celebrates public discovery, understanding, and distribution of scientific knowledge as crucial to the freedom, success, health, and safety of life on this planet. We will join this nonpartisan group, marching in support of the following goals: Communication, Funding, Policy, Literacy, and Diversity. #ScienceMarchSF #ScienceInTheBay

4. Bargaining Team nominations due May 20
The time has come to begin the process of assembling our AFT 2121 Bargaining Team for our next contract campaign. Our elected and rank-and-file union leaders are asking for more member involvement in the selection of our Bargaining Team. Any member who fills out the AFT 2121 Negotiating Team Nominations Form and gets the signature of 20 other members can be can be nominated to run in the Bargaining Team election to be held at the Delegate Assembly on 5/23.
The deadline for turning in your form is Saturday, May 20 at our Union Picnic in Golden Gate Park. If you wish, you may also include a 100 word statement on why you would make a good member of the Bargaining Team. The Bargaining Team will then be elected by the Delegate Assembly at their May 23 meeting on the Ocean Campus in MUB 140 from 3-5pm. If you have any questions about the Bargaining Team election procedure, please call (415-585-2121) or email us (aft@aft2121.org).
5. We stand with students: No guns on our campuses!
Yesterday our AFT 2121 Executive Board voted to re-affirm the CCSF Academic Senate’s Fall 2014 “Resolution Against Arming San Francisco City College District Police Department (SFCCDPD).” Our rank-and-file General Membership have also voted to stand with our Associated Students and CCSF Solidarity Committee student leaders in opposing the arming of CCSF campus police. Our first concern is the safety of our students and our police have been able to keep our community safe without guns for the last many decades. This should be celebrated and honored, and serve as a model for other schools.
