Ray Berard, a long-time instructor at the John Adams Campus, recently passed away. He was on the AFT 2121 Executive Board for many years and the President of the CCSF Academic Senate. He was also an AFT 2121 delegate to the San Francisco Labor Council for more than two decades, even after retirement.
Many people at CCSF and throughout the city admired and respected Ray for his humanity and progressive political perspective–also for his generous contributions of time and money to people and causes he believed in. He grew up in Detroit and was proud of his French-Canadian working class background and was always on the side of working people, students, immigrants, oppressed minorities–and all the people who paid their dues more often than they collected the benefits.
Celebrate and reflect on the life of Ray Berard.
