Today: Protest retaliation | Tomorrow: Party | Solidarity summer | Election results | more…

Today, tell the Board of Trustees: We will not accept retaliation against our coworkers!

Come to the BOT meeting today (4pm on Ocean Campus in MUB 140) to speak out against retaliation; after speaking out against poor working conditions, CCSF’s last remaining financial aid counselors have both been given new assignments for fall semester. There is currently no private space for financial aid counselors to meet with students, and next year there might not be a financial aid department at all – unless we do something. The Board needs to know that admin’s retaliatory actions are hurting students and faculty, so they have a chance to do the right thing and order this senseless decision reversed.

Tomorrow, come to the AFT 2121 party and help make signs for Free City campaign

Tomorrow, come unwind with your colleagues at our end-of-semester party on Ocean Campus in the Cafeteria from 3:30-6pm. At the party we will make signs for a rally next week to support the Free City campaign. AFT 2121 is working with Supervisor Jane Kim, other supes, the SF Labor Council, and CCSF Solidarity Committee students to make CCSF free for San Francisco residents and workers! More details on next week’s rally to come very soon. In the meantime help us prepare tomorrow by making signs supporting free community college in our City.

Solidarity Summer

This summer our union will be offering a series of training sessions for rank-and-file members and Precinct Representatives on building union power for our students, community, and membership. We will discuss organizing theory and practice, and look at how to fight the big-money forces working to undermine public education.
There will be one session each week of CCSF summer school for a total of 6, each with a different theme. If you are interested in participating please RSVP to mmccown@aft2121.orgso we can plan for the appropriate number of attendees.

AFT 2121 Leadership Election: Results are in

After a late night of counting, the results are in. Congratulations to our returning leaders and new ones!

Admin files charge with PERB

Admin has officially filed a charge with the Public Employees Relations Board alleging our one-day strike was illegal. AFT 2121 maintains that our strike was a legal Unfair Labor Practice strike, and the right thing to do when the College is under attack. 2121 will make this case to PERB. It is possible that our dispute may be settled voluntarily.
