Open negotiations tomorrow
Last month we kicked off our contract campaign to defend the CCSF San Francisco deserves. Tomorrow, November 8, 2017 our Bargaining Team will be meeting with CCSF District Administration.
In our first round of negotiations last week we won the District’s agreement to have open negotiations, which is something they rejected in the last round of negotiations. Faculty and members of the public are allowed to observe. We’ve established ground rules for observers of open negotiations and you will be welcome to provide input in caucuses of the union negotiating team.
We will be meeting in MUB 248 every Wednesday (our team will be in 238 from 1:00-1:30)– please RSVP awaid@aft2121.org if you’re planning to go, so we have a rough count. Negotiations session starts at 1:30 and go until about 5:00pm.
CCSF Board of Trustees to vote on raising student workers wages
On Thursday, November 9th the CCSF Board of Trustees will vote on raising CCSF students workers’ pay to match San Francisco minimum wage ordinances. We comment this effort and our AFT 2121 leaders will be there at Thursday’s board meeting to speak in support of this action.
AFT 2121 remembers Cliff Liehe
Our Union would like to acknowledge the life and work of Cliff Liehe, part-time teacher and union activist, who passed away on October 31. Cliff did exceptional work with our Union for many years for both part-timers and full-timers. He also worked statewide on service credits for part timers, who were only getting half of what they were supposed to. Cliff changed that and figured out a way to handle the backlog of part-timers who hadn’t been credited fairly. Another part of his legacy was establishing the extremely popular Retirement Financial Planning days at CCSF, with representatives from HSS and CalSTRS. He is in our hearts and will be missed.
