We have overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new three-year contract. The Yes vote was with 94%! Yes: 396, No 16, Disqualified 7, Blank 2.
After years of low salaries and low morale among faculty during the Accreditation Crisis this contract restores competitive salaries giving the College the ability to attract and retain quality faculty.
This is a great victory for public education and the entire San Francisco community. We are so happy that this will help our faculty continue to do the jobs they love and serve our students and all of San Francisco.
We appreciate our community and student allies’ support throughout the struggles of the last few years. Without their efforts to save City College and work for Free City this day would not have been possible. Our new contract continues the work of rebuilding and regrowing our College.
Here are the highlights of our new contract:
– Faculty salaries will rise above the median of the Bay 10 of California Community Colleges for the first time since the Accreditation crisis in 2012.
– Provides a flat across the board increase to all faculty.
– Creates extra salary steps for veteran faculty.
– Raises starting salaries.
– Helps protect undocumented students by protecting faculty who refuse to cooperate with ICE.
Within hours of the faculty voting to ratify the new contract the CCSF Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the contract.
We want to thank the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor and the District Negotiations team for working with us. We will continue to work with our students and community allies so that San Francisco will have the City College it deserves.
