Political work | Press Event: We need CCSF in the Sunset | Working America

Calling all members: Elections matter

AFT 2121 has endorsed candidates that are clear public education champions and that we know will work with us to expand and make the Free City program permanent. The November 2018 election is right around the corner, and we have a chance to elect great progressive candidates and move some important issues forward. We’ve worked hard to endorse candidates who share our values and understand the importance of CCSF to our communities. Now we need to show up for our people and help get them elected.

(Thurs. 10/11, 7:30am) Support John Rizzo for our CCSF Board of Trustees

John Rizzo has been a long-time trustee defending our college and working to build a better City College. He is committed to eliminating the achievement gap, providing housing for students and building state-of-the-art classrooms using Net Zero green energy design for a sustainable future. Please help his re-election campaign. His opponent is out-spending but we can provide the people power to ensure that he wins.

He has asked for help on October 11 at 24th Street BART, 7:30am.

You can also sign up for a volunteer shift on a weekday morning or weekend or donate to his campaign.

(Sat. 10/20, 10am-5pm) Fighting back: Join the Working America Campaign

AFT 2121 has been invited to participate in the Working America campaign on October 20 from about 10am-5pm. This effort is coordinated by CFT and also includes AFT 1493 and Peralta Federation of Teachers 1603. We hope you will join us in going to Modesto to walk some precincts for congressional candidate Josh Harder, who is running against GOP incumbent Jeff Denham in the midterm. We’ll be carpooling to the Central Valley and back on Sat., 10/20 leaving from the AFT 2121 office (311 Miramar Ave) at 10am. This is also an excellent opportunity to make a difference in a traditionally republican district that looks well positioned to flip. Please join us and reach out to your colleagues.

RSVP HERE

This is a volunteer effort. CFT, however, will provide food, supplies and reimbursement for miles traveled.
