Throughout the day, faculty have been contacting AFT 2121 with concerns about the continuing air quality crisis. We communicated your concerns to the Chancellor earlier in the day, and in response, he has closed CCSF campuses and canceled all classes on Mon., Nov. 19; Tues., Nov. 20; and Wed., Nov. 21. Classes will resume on Mon., Nov. 26, 2018, after the Thanksgiving holiday.
While the college administration will inform students of the closure via their college email addresses, we faculty often have more accurate contact information for our students. For this reason, we suggest that you use all means available (Canvas, email, or other messaging platforms) to inform your students of the closure so that they will not make an unnecessary trip to campus in the unhealthy air.
During the next few days, the college will send us announcements about making up instructional time. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Leslie Milloy in the Chancellor’s Office:
lmilloy@ccsf.edu. If you are unable to reach her, you may email me at
jworley@aft2121.org and I will attempt to find answers to your questions.
In Solidarity,
Jenny Worley
President, AFT 2121
