(Friday, May 10) These cuts won’t heal: Next steps to fight the cuts
Join AFT 2121 and the Grow Our CCSF Coalition for a special City Hall hearing convened by Supervisor Matt Haney on May 10th at 10 AM on the issue of CCSF Class Cuts. Plan to COME to support our students and the SF Community that is supporting us!
Please help us and the Grow our CCSF Coalition collect more surveys. We have over 1000 class cuts surveys so far! You can complete the class cuts surveyand share it (survey also in Chinese and in Spanish). Please distribute the survey widely as we will continue to gather this data over the coming weeks.
We’ve built momentum and we need to keep saying no to a 1/3 cut to our college. Our college, our choice!
Coordinator bargaining
Next week the AFT and DCC will partner for impacts bargaining with the District over cuts to Coordinator hours and other ESRUs (extra special reassignment units).
Department Chairs and Faculty Coordinators will work to impress upon the District the vital role these reassign-time positions play in the overall health of our college programs. These positions perform the duties that keep our programs running, from hands-on faculty advising and placement, guidance on educational pathways, certificates and courses offered, connections with the community, marketing and more. To date the District has not presented nor been able to articulate a staffing plan for this important work.
These are academic coordinators who are experts in their discipline; they not only advise students, they also advise faculty on curriculum matters, college navigation, forms, procedures, etc. Without their labor and expertise our college will suffer and enrollment will be threatened.
Our first meeting with the District will be May 7— stay tuned!
(Friday, May 17) Location and date change: End of semester party
The END (of the semester) is almost here! Before you take off for parts unknown, or just get off the grid, be sure to unwind and have fun with your union colleagues!
End-of-semester party*
El Rio back patio
Friday, May 17th
4:00 pm
Tacos and beverages to the first 50 people there!
*OK. Originally it was scheduled as a picnic on May 23rd. But the response so far caused us to re-think it. So, instead of a picnic on a day most people won’t come, we’ll hang at El Rio.
