NOTES ON PRESIDENTIAL RACE:
At this COPE meeting, we will review the results of our Presidential Issues Survey. The deadline to participate in this survey is Tuesday, February 4th at 5:00. The survey asks: Should we endorse anyone? If so, who are your preferred candidates and priority issues? What organizing are you willing to commit to? The ballot at the meeting will feature the top three candidates from the survey, with write-in and dual endorsement options. We are inviting our members to act as candidate proxies and speak in favor of a candidate. Email James Tracy at jtracy@aft2121.org if you would like to represent a candidate at this meeting. The outcome of the November 2020 presidential elections will be extremely important for teachers, students and the future of public education. A president committed to quality education will care about under what pay & conditions we teach, and how our teaching is funded. S/he should also be concerned about the skyrocketing levels of student debt, and how to enable the broadest possible affordable access to public higher education.

If you are not able to make it to this COPE meeting due to teaching duties, you can request a paper ballot by emailing James Tracy, email address above. , no later than Monday, February 3rd, 2020. When requesting a paper ballot, please specify your campus and best time to find you there.

Don’t forget to participate in the survey!
