You’re Invited! CCSF Trustee Candidate Interviews this Friday at 4:30

Dear AFT 2121 Members,

We hope you all have had a restful summer and are looking forward to meeting your students soon! We have a lot of exciting organizing ahead this semester, starting on Flex Day with AFT 2121’s CCSF Board of Trustees Endorsement Interviews this Friday, August 16th from 4:30-6:30pm!

This is an important chance for all AFT 2121 members to meet and evaluate Board of Trustee candidates, and make your voice heard on any endorsements. RSVP now here!

We’ve seen how important it is for City College to have a Board of Trustees focused on student success, faculty protections, and strong leadership. In the last year alone the Board has made some hugely impactful decisions for the future of our college, including helping ensure we won a new contract and a 14% raise after months of delay from the administration. Going forward, the Board will be a critical partner as we work to get the college out of Hold Harmless Funding, select a new permanent chancellor, and secure CCSF’s full accreditation.

At the meeting, we’ll hear from 4 Board candidates: incumbent Aliya Chisti and three new candidates Luis Zamora, Heather McCarty, and Ruth Ferguson. After we’ve heard from the candidates and faculty have asked questions, we will discuss and vote on who we’d like to recommend to our membership for endorsement. Each of these candidates has completed a Public Higher Education Pledge and Candidate Questionnaire – find those here for review before the meeting.

Will you attend the August 16th Board of Trustees Endorsement Interviews meeting and help your union decide who to endorse in November? RSVP here!

With 4 of the 7 Board seats open in November, we as faculty are in a strong position to elect Trustees who share our goals for the college: long-term financial stability, higher faculty pay, better support and class offerings for students, and a well-run, highly functioning educational institution.
