CFT Nominations Reminder | A Note of Thanks from the Classified Senate President | Part-timer Retirement Workshop

CFT Nominations Reminder

Our state affiliate, CFT, is holding our biennial Convention in San Diego, this March 14-16. Any member in good standing can serve as delegate–this is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues across the state and hear more about what CFT is working on for members and what is happening in other Locals.

AFT 2121 members can use this form to nominate a colleague to represent AFT 2121 at the CFT convention. Due to the size of our Local, AFT 2121 is entitled to a total of 31 delegates, but only the top vote-getters will receive financial support to attend. Nominations will be taken 1/23/25-2/1/25. The election for delegates will take place online 2/12/25-2/22/25.

A Note of Thanks from the Classified Senate President

Faculty, Good Morning,

First, let me extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the Family Resource Annual Holiday Toy Drive. This initiative was a tremendous success! From the See’s Candy fundraiser to the holiday breakfast and toy drop-off locations at both centers, it was truly inspiring to see our City College family come together to support our students and one another.

As we step into the new year, the Classified Senate is already planning exciting ways to build on this success. We’re discussing future fundraising opportunities to support next year’s Toy Drive, our Governance Spotlight Award luncheons, and professional development for Classified Professionals.

Given the overwhelming success of the See’s Candy fundraiser, we’re thrilled to announce a new campaign launching just in time for Valentine’s Day! This year-long fundraiser is perfect for all occasions—Valentine’s Day, birthdays, Easter, graduations, Thanksgiving, and even next Christmas. We encourage you to treat yourself or your loved ones while supporting a great cause.

The Classified Senate appreciates the hard work you do every day to support our students and employees.

Part-timer Retirement Workshop

It’s never too early to plan! CCSF and STRS presentations are helpful, but they often focus on FT faculty and don’t address the concerns of part-timers. On 2/7, the AFT 2121 Part-timers Committee meeting will include a presentation by retired CCSF instructor Doug Orr about retirement for PT faculty.

AFT 2121 Part-Timer’s committee
Open to all AFT 2121 members, focused on PT faculty
Friday, 2/7, 2:00pm

You can help by letting Doug know your questions ahead of time. If you’re able to attend on 2/7, please fill out this short questionnaire.
