Delegate Assembly Tues 9/16 @ 3PM | Prop 50 and more!

Delegate Assembly -Tuesday, 9/16, 3 PM on Zoom

All members are welcome to attend our next DA on Zoom. Agenda here. We’ll hear more about the upcoming Contract Article Consultations with members and continue our training on One-on-One Conversations. We’ll also hear a Prop 50 Redistricting to win update, and contract enforcement legal updates. See you there!

Note about the image by Rini Templeton, riniart.org. The miners’ strike of 1906 at Cananea for the same wage as Americans working there had been a precursor of the Mexican Revolution. In 1983, they struck again and won a 50% raise and other concessions.

CFT Endorses Prop 50

You may have heard about Prop 50, recently added to the ballot for a special election on November 4. Your state affiliate CFT has proudly endorsed Yes on Prop. 50, the Election Rigging Response Act because as public school employees, we know how important it is to take back the House in November 2026. The attacks on immigrant communities, public ed, academic freedom, and labor right now are untenable. Our country needs leaders in Washington who will stand up for public education, students, and labor. And Prop 50 will help make that happen.

This campaign is coming together very quickly (ballots drop in a month!) and will need significant grassroots support to get the word out. Stay tuned for more information, but in the meantime, here are some opportunities to get involved:

Joint CFT/California Federation of Labor Unions virtual phone banks

We will be calling CFT members for the first half of each phone bank and other union members for the second half. Please join us! You can sign up here:

For more information and ways to get involved, see the California Federation of Labor Union website. This is an important election for the future of our democracy, and time is short. Let’s all make a plan to get involved!

CCSF Spotlight in Mission Local

It was great to see CCSF’s Addiction and Recovery Counseling program, led by faculty member Alma Avila, lifted up in Mission Local recently. Read the article here. This program is an excellent example of how City College not only serves students but also our City. CCSF programs such as Alma’s are essential in addressing key labor shortages for essential workers such as addiction and recovery counselors. Our whole city has an interest in ensuring CCSF is equipped to meet student interest in these high demand areas. This article is also a great example of the power of Free City to change lives. AFT 2121 continues to work with community partners to advocate for a new long-term agreement with the Mayor that will continue to make this program available to our community.

Finally, as a side note, workers at Mission Local just voted to unionize! We welcome them to the union movement!

Reminder: Prescription Drug Co-Pay Benefit

Full-time faculty are eligible for reimbursement of prescription drug co-payments when they exceed $1,200 annually. Claims for reimbursement for 11/1/24-10/31/25 can be submitted now through November 15, 2025. To be eligible, co-payments for employees and dependents must be for prescription drugs covered by a City College health plan through SF Health Service Systems (SFHSS).

If your prescription drug co-payments exceed $1,200, you may qualify for reimbursement of copayments from the November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025 period.  Please keep a copy of your receipts or other documentation before you submit all documents to CCSF Benefits. If you have questions on how to submit, please contact the Benefits Unit at 415-452-7733 or benefits@ccsf.edu.
