AFT 2121 Contract Bargaining Team Election Process Starts Now!
AFT 2121 is a democratic, rank-and-file led union. We win our best contracts when we work together, in bargaining and in the organizing that drives it. We urge all faculty to talk to your precinct rep about filling out a bargaining survey and to consider running for your union bargaining team. Successful unions run contract campaigns, i.e. organize, because they know that winning at the bargaining table is not about arguments–it’s about unity, power, and problem solving.
Your contract expires June 30. Now is the time to engage. When bargaining works, our bargaining team represents every member of our bargaining unit and is part of a unified and organized workplace. You can make a difference in this work! How can your voice and that of your colleagues be part of this process? By running for the bargaining team or encouraging a colleague to do so. See the Bargaining Team Job Description here for more information. All nomination materials must be turned in by Monday, 1/19/26.

Free City Story of the Week: Chloe

Some excerpts: Hi, My name is Chloe…and I’m a student here…through the Free City program. The Free City program has really given me the opportunity to come back to school as a late 20s student and given me that financial support and the resources that were needed to finish out my degree. My goals were to finish my GED here at CCSF and Free City has allowed me to do just that.
Too many San Franciscans are dealing with housing insecurity. Free City College enables all residents, regardless of their housing situation, to access higher education. Fully funding Free City is crucial to push back against rising income inequality in our city! See Chloe’s story here.
If you know a student or community member who would like to share their Free City story please share this form with them to fill out. See more Free City stories from students and faculty at @freecitysf on Instagram.
Wins Through Unity Excerpt of the Week
Power in numbers: Our workforce has shrunk in recent years, and the administration has been replacing

full-timers with part-timers. This means additional unpaid labor for full-time faculty, while part-timers still face job insecurity and uncertain schedules. Now more than ever, working together is essential. A powerful union of 1,000 faculty can achieve more than a fractured union ever could.
