After over a year of negotiating for a fair contract, our labor siblings at SF’s K-12 public schools (United Educators of San Francisco – UESF) have voted overwhelmingly to strike for the stable public schools SF students and educators deserve.

UESF is fighting to solve the vacancy and turnover crisis at SFUSD, fully staff the District’s special education programs, and provide hard-working teachers with the benefits and salaries it takes to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
As faculty, we know this struggle well, and stand in complete solidarity with UESF’s strike for stronger public schools. Well over 80% of SFUSD educators voted in their final strike authorization vote, and 97% voted yes. We know the hard work–the structure tests and the organizing–that built this level of unity and strength. We urge San Francisco’s elected Board of Education to heed the call: San Francisco’s students deserve better, and our educators are done waiting. Fair Contract Now.
AFT 2121 stands in solidarity with our UESF siblings. Here are a few ways you can support them:
- Welcome SFUSD students accompanying their caregivers in your classrooms–this is a simple but vital step to support our community
- Put on an AFT 2121 t-shirt and join a picket line near you or adopt a picket
- Sign a letter urging SF’s Board of Education to reach a fair settlement today
- Donate to UESF’s Solidarity Fund
- Follow UESF’s Updates on Instagram and Facebook
In Solidarity,
AFT 2121
P.S. For those faculty teaching dual enrollment courses, the District has committed to moving your classes to CCSF sites. Please contact David Yee’s office with any questions.
