Launch of Photo Petition for a Fair Contract

Bargaining for our next contract is in the works. It’s time to put our full support behind our bargaining priorities. AFT2121 has launched our Faculty Photo Petition for a fair contract: fair and competitive salaries, stable jobs, respect for our students and our work, and recognition and support for the top quality education we provide to San Francisco – because faculty should be able to afford to live in the city we serve.

Here’s an important way you can show you care about a fair contract:

  • Get your pic on the petition now: upload a photo of yourself working or in your work gear – or just of you! – as your visual sign-on.
  • Ask your colleagues to do the same: We need our faculty – that means everyone – to show the administration and our community that we are serious and committed. Use this flyer with a QR code you can print or text.
    • Who else can you ask for a pic now? Who can you talk to at Flex day and get a picture?
    • Look for the AFT table outside the cafeteria tomorrow (3/4) for flyers and information.

Special Delegate Assembly to Endorse Sunshine Document, Tues, 3/10, 3-6 PM

Your AFT 2121 bargaining team will very soon begin negotiating with the District for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, i.e. your new contract.

As an important step in this process, all members are invited to a special Delegate Assembly Tuesday, 3/10, 3-5pm on Zoom, Agenda here. The purpose of the meeting is to provide feedback on your bargaining team’s Sunshine Document. Attendees will be asked to review the document and consider endorsing it in preparation for its presentation to the Board of Trustees.

You can use the same meeting link as for Delegate Assembly meetings. Full meeting link here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81016718065

So what is the Sunshine Document? The EERA (Educational Employment Relations Act) governs much of our work with the District and sets out a process for beginning negotiations, often referred to as “sunshining.” The purpose of this process is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about intended proposals – particularly the employers’ – and to comment on them. AFT 2121’s Sunshine Document is our opening communication to the District where we articulate our broad goals for the contract campaign.

Over the course of our contract campaign, your bargaining team will be developing specific proposal language based on your input from the bargaining survey, article conversations, one on one conversations with precinct reps and meetings like this one.

General Membership Meeting Tues, 3/17, 3-5 PM

It is election season for your union local! Calling all members to come to the General Membership Meeting on 3/17. We will be nominating leadership for elections later this spring and considering updates to our Constitution and Bylaws. We’ll also be sharing updates on our Campaign for a Fair Contract.
