2023 Contract Negotiations

Negotiating for the College We Deserve!

  • From More Competitive Salaries, to Improved Working Conditions, to Stronger Administrative Accountability, AFT is pushing for win-win solutions that will improve faculty morale and enhance student success. You can find AFT’s broad goals for negotiations in its Sunshine Document, an opening communication delivered to the District in February 2023. Sunshine Documents are deliberately broad and aspirational statements that encompass all areas (e.g. salaries, facilities, class size) on which you wish to negotiate. See AFT’s full Sunshine Document here.

Open bargaining

  • All members are welcome to come to open bargaining. Your presence sends a strong message to the college administration that faculty are united. We ask that all attendees minimize visible and audible reactions to what you hear. We’ll take time to discuss issues in caucus.
  • Most bargaining sessions have been in-person in the MUB building. A few have been on Zoom. Register here for Zoom sessions.
  • See the AFT 2121 calendar for the full schedule.

The Current Contract

  • While we negotiate, we are still operating under our old contract.
  • Pay scales are the same as 2020-2021, year 3 of the contract. Faculty have continued to move up steps, even after the contract has expired.

• View your contract here. Scroll down on the same page for explanations of many contract provisions.
