COVID Impacts Bargaining (August 2020 to August 2022) 

Highlights of COVID Impacts Bargaining Agreements

Extra sick leave for those working in-person 

  • Faculty who are working face-to-face assignments shall accrue sick leave at the rate of 1.5 of their regular rate.

Workers’ compensation

  •  Employees are covered by workers’ compensation laws when performing work duties at their designated alternate locations during regular work hours.

Workplace Health and Safety Standards

  •  The District takes responsibility for including signage about COVID safety standards, and will clean and disinfect all common areas. Employees shall be responsible for sanitizing their own workstations. 
  • Everyone working in-person will participate in COVID safety training
  • The district will provide PPE: PPE guidelines come from California DPH, California OSHA, the US CDC, US OSHA, and WHO. 
  • In the event the District is unable to provide PPE, employees shall be sent home with pay until such time that the District is able to safely provide the above described items. 

Union Rights 

  • When the District is made aware that a unit member has tested positive for COVID-19, they will notify AFT 2121.
