Important tax info: Did you received $1000 compensation for delayed pay last year?

Thank you to Naomi Vanderkindren for alerting us to a potential issue on your tax returns! If you were told by the District that you need to self-report the $1000 on your tax returns, you should be aware that Payroll, in fact, did include that money in the gross pay shown on the W2. So in fact, you should not self-report the $1000 on top of what is shown on the W2.
If you report the amount twice you will be paying taxes twice on the same income. In one person’s case the double reporting would have disqualified them for an income based housing purchase.
If you have any questions, please call payroll department.
