Open Letter to Chancellor Rocha

Dear Chancellor Rocha:

Our Union office has been thrown into turmoil this afternoon responding to hundreds of City College faculty who did not receive pay checks for work performed in the month of August. Understandably, they are very upset and in a panic. Already balancing tight budgets, many of our faculty will be direly affected by this “mishap.”

Having read your inspired Labor Day message to the college community, I’m confident you agree that failing to pay workers on time for work performed is unacceptable. On behalf of our entire faculty, AFT 2121 expects immediate and complete payment of these hardworking teachers, librarians, and counselors. If these payments cannot be processed by our college’s payroll system by tomorrow, we ask that you use the paycheck you received today to help those in dire circumstances pay their rents, mortgages, grocery bills, electric bills, and childcare providers.
