(6/2, 1-3:30pm) COPE meeting on Board of Trustees endorsements

On Tuesday, 6/2 at 1pm all American Federation of Teachers 2121 members are invited to participate in our most important COPE meeting of 2020.

To attend go to https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89979524095?pwd=U1RHMVB3UmR3VG53QnVzVENXd0UrQT09 OR call 1-669-900-6833 and follow the prompts to enter the Meeting ID: 899 7952 4095 and Password: 634378.

Join us as we hear from candidates for the City College Board of Trustees running for office in the November 2020 election. New candidates are Aliyah Cristi and Anita Martinez. Incumbents Tom Temprano and Shanell Williams have asked our union for consideration. As faculty and students fight to save our college, it is critical that we endorse accountable leaders. All AFT 2121 members may vote at our COPE meetings. We only consider candidates who have asked for our endorsement, and completed our questionnaire.

Candidate statements will be recorded and made available for members to listen to up until June 30th. Because of the special importance of this endorsement, members can vote electronically throughout the month of June. Links to cast a vote and view the recorded statements will be sent out to members following the COPE Meeting. We will announce our endorsements on July 1, 2020.

Support Full-Time Faculty Position in AFAM Studies at CCSF!

In this time of pandemic, we must remain especially vigilant in uniting and advocating for our colleagues and students of color. One of the goals of the Affirmative Action Task Force of AFT2121 is to restore a full-time position in the African American Studies department. In lieu of an in-person protest or gathering, we are asking folks to virtually organize to show their support.

Please take a moment to post, and share this with your students and colleagues.

CTE Survey Results

In April 2020, our members in CTE engaged in a survey to assess their concerns about cuts and the move to remote instruction. CCSF trains many of San Francisco’s essential workers through our CTE programs. As 80,000 San Francisco residents applied for unemployment benefits in April 2020, hearing from CTE faculty about their ability to re-train and place San Francisco residents on paths to re-employment was a priority. Kathleen White developed the survey and presents the results here.
