Restoration Bargaining: AFT 2121 files ULP | Campaign Strategy Workshops

Dear AFT2121 members-

The Restoration bargaining team met with the district again on Monday November 8.

Your AFT team proposed a CALSTRS retirement incentive which would give members who are in Defined Benefits and retire at the end of the 2021/2022 school year an additional 2 years of service credit. You can read about this incentive here. This proposal would save the district money and support retiring faculty while preserving jobs for less senior faculty and part-timers.

Additionally, after nearly a year of pushing the district on this issue, VC Al Amin has finally conceded that the district can pursue revenue replacement through HEERF for lost sales tax up to 14.6 million for both the last school year (2020-2021) and the current school year (2021-2022). This is critical to stabilizing the District’s revenue projections.

However, because the District team continues to cancel and delay meetings, fails to provide timely information and still cannot answer our budget questions, the District is bargaining in bad faith and AFT2121 has filed an Unfair Labor Practice.

Your presence and support at the bargaining sessions makes a tremendous difference in holding the District accountable. Please continue to show up and let the District know that you are watching.

Our next session will be November 15 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Please join us!

In solidarity,

Your AFT2121 bargaining team

Campaign Strategy Workshops Next Week

Hundreds of your colleagues have been meeting over the past month to analyze the conditions of your campaign to protect and revive our college. Your union is holding a series of workshops so that you may build on these insights and help shape our campaign to reinvigorate CCSF.

Participate in a Campaign Strategy Workshop: Friday 11/12 from 11-12pm, or Tuesday 11/16 from 1:30-2:30 (click here for links). At these workshops, we’ll develop campaign recommendations and action items on the basis of your colleagues’ insights. We will also assess the strengths and weaknesses of these recommendations and ready them for consideration at our next Delegate Assembly on Tuesday 11/16 from 3-5pm.

RSVP by replying yes to this email along with the session you will attend. We will follow up with a link. Our college’s budget woes have not gone away, which means we need to keep pushing for a long-term sustainable solution. To win on any new revenue proposal, ALL faculty need to be engaged, and that means YOU. Join the conversation next week and fight for the college San Francisco deserves.
